Using the latest electronic tracing technology, ElectroDetection's primary service is to locate and map underground services.
The routes of drains, previously assumed to be straight between manholes, can now be accurately surveyed on the surface by following the signal received from a transmitting probe floated or rodded through the pipe. Man-entry sewers and culverts can be accessed and fully surveyed by our confined space experts.
Using existing statutory records as a guide, services with a metallic content can be located by applying a radio frequency into the cable or pipe whilst non-metallic pipes can be traced used Ground Penetrating Radar. Once detected at the surface the service is positioned by the latest generation of total stations and GPS receivers.
Services can be traced both above and below ground; although services are usually traced external to buildings, internal surveys can be conducted in basement slabs and older buildings where services are visible.
Presentation of results is as AutoCAD drawing files, based on a supplied topographical plan, and accompanied by a full survey report.
